Privacy Policy

Linked List is a small, independently run project. We care about your privacy and we're not in the business of selling your data. Here's the straightforward version of how we handle your information.

What We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and password (which is securely hashed — we never store it in plain text). When you use Linked List, we store the lists you create, the links you save, and your interactions like follows and upvotes. Like every website, we also see your IP address when you visit; see below for how briefly we keep it. If you join the waitlist, we keep your email address (and the sign-up code you tried) until you create an account. That's about it.

How We Use It

Your information is used to make Linked List work — showing your profile, displaying your lists, powering your feed, and sending you essential emails (like password resets and email verifications). We don't send marketing emails or sell your data to anyone.

IP Addresses

We use your IP address for security: to slow down repeated attempts to sign in, sign up, or request sign-in links and password resets. We record it when you sign in and delete it after one day, and the counters we use to limit repeated attempts expire within a day too. Our host keeps short-lived request logs that include IP addresses; we don't keep copies. Our nightly database backups, which can include an IP from the past day, are deleted after 30 days.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no third-party analytics cookies, no advertising pixels. Just the one cookie that makes the "remember me" part work.

Third Parties

We don't share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. We use a few services to run the site, and they process data only as needed to provide those services:

• Fly.io hosts the site and its database.
• Tigris stores our database backups.
• Resend delivers our emails, so it sees your email address. It also holds the waitlist, so we can email everyone on it when there's room.
• PostHog gives us basic usage analytics. It runs without cookies and is set to discard IP addresses.

The site icons shown next to links are fetched once by our server and served from our own address, so neither the sites you see listed nor anyone else learns that you looked at them.

Your Data

You can export your lists at any time from your account settings. If you want to delete your account and all associated data, contact us and we'll take care of it.

Changes

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of the page. For significant changes, we'll do our best to notify you via email.
